How We Work
From concept to mass production, one point of contact
Sim Rhino guides hardware startups from concept to mass production as a single point of contact. Each stage runs through vetted supplier partners. Advice stays vendor-objective, pricing stays transparent, and one team owns quality, cost, and schedule from stage 0 to shipped product.

The stages: 0 to mass production
| Stage | Where you are | What Sim Rhino does | Who produces |
|---|---|---|---|
| 0 Concept | Idea or sketch | Feasibility assessment, cost target, roadmap | — |
| 1 Design & Simulation | Design direction set | FEA/CFD/thermal simulation, camera module selection, electrical/mechanical/firmware design | Engineering partners |
| 2 Prototype | Design frozen | Match prototyping partners, track quality and schedule | Prototyping, CNC, and PCB partners |
| 3 Pre-production | Prototype validated | Bridge runs, lock the supply chain, optimize cost | PCB, mechanical, assembly, and testing partners |
| 4 Mass Production | Ready to scale | Coordinate the assembly line, supervise QA, manage fulfillment | Contract manufacturing partners |
Enter at any stage. A working prototype can start at pre-production; a finished design can start at mass production.
One point of contact
You work with Sim Rhino only. Sim Rhino coordinates quoting, scheduling, and quality across partners, so you never manage six suppliers in parallel.
How partners are vetted
Partners are checked before they run a stage. What we check:
- Quality systems and inspection process
- Prototyping speed and communication
- MOQ flexibility for startup volumes
- Experience with similar products
- Transparent, itemized quoting
Vendor-objective, transparent pricing
Sim Rhino does not own the production line, so recommendations are not shaped by a factory's idle capacity. Service fees and supplier costs are separate line items: component sourcing starts at a flat $300 service fee, and components are billed at supplier cost with no hidden markup.
Three ways to get a product built
| Manage suppliers yourself | One factory, direct | Sim Rhino (advisor + partner network) | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Coordination | You manage every supplier yourself | One factory only | One point of contact: Sim Rhino |
| Supplier choice | Fully free, but you vet everyone | Limited to that factory's capabilities | Best-fit partner matched per stage |
| Cost | No advisor fee — lowest direct cost | Factory quote, cost structure not itemized | A visible service fee; supplier costs at cost |
| Quality ownership | You | The factory, for its line only | Sim Rhino, across all stages |
| Best for | Teams with production experience and a sourcing staff | Products that fit one factory exactly | Hardware startups building their first production run |

Frequently Asked Questions
- How does Sim Rhino make money?
- Sim Rhino charges a visible service fee. Component sourcing starts at a flat $300 service fee, and components are billed at supplier cost with no hidden markup. Manufacturing projects are quoted per project. The fee and the supplier cost are always separate line items.
- Do I have to start at the concept stage?
- No. You can enter at any stage: concept only, a working prototype that needs productionizing, or a product ready for mass production. The intake assessment maps where you are, what is missing, and which stage comes next.
- Who chooses the supplier for each stage?
- Advice is vendor-objective: partners are matched to your product, volume, and cost target, not to a fixed factory. If a partner is not the best fit for a stage, a different vetted partner runs that stage.
- Can Sim Rhino run just one stage if I already have a factory?
- Yes. Sim Rhino can run one stage, for example simulation or DFM review, while your existing factory handles production. The stage map defines exactly where Sim Rhino's responsibility starts and ends, so nothing falls between two teams.
